LOLG at the Supreme Court of Canada

Back to all news Terry O’Sullivan and Andrew Winton obtained leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada from a decision of the Court of Appeal for Ontario concerning the interpretation and application of section 137.1 of the Courts of Justice Act, which provide defendants to a defamation claim to seek an early dismissal of the claim on the grounds that it is a “strategic lawsuit against public participation” (“SLAPP suit”). The appeal is scheduled to be heard on November 12, 2019.
