Christian Medical and Dental Society of Canada v. CPSO

Overview

Represented the CCLA in Christian Medical and Dental Society of Canada v. CPSO.  The case considered the constitutionality of CPSO policies requiring physicians to provide an “effective referral” to patients seeking certain medical services, including medical assistance in dying and abortion.  The Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal found that the policies do not contravene the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. 2019 ONCA 393; 2018 ONSC 579
